How this one is put together

Spongia foam core

We cut the internal padding from 0.8-inch thick spongia foam. It compresses slowly under a full pack and rebounds once you set the load down. That thickness spreads weight across the collarbone instead of letting bare webbing bite.

Elastic outer fabric

The outer shell uses a flexible elastic fabric that stretches around thick harness straps. It holds its shape over rough edges, stays soft against the neck, and survives repeated cycles in a standard washing machine when dirt builds up.

Moisture management

Carrying heavy gear builds heat quickly. The contact side allows airflow and pulls moisture away from your shirt, keeping your shoulders cool and dry across long hikes or full days on your feet.

Universal strap fit

At 3.2 inches wide and 1.2 inches total thickness, these pads wrap around most standard vest harnesses and rucksack straps. Slide them into place, position them over your pressure points, and let the padding take the strain.

Before you commit

Check the hardware on the bag you already own before ordering. Our fittings need a D-ring or the equivalent loop, and a sewn-in webbing tab will not take a swivel hook however strong the strap is.
