A sleeve is the simplest thing we make and the easiest to get wrong. Cut it loose and the machine slides inside a bag all day. Cut it tight and the zip pull scrapes the lid. The screen size printed on each page is the size the padding was shaped around, not a rounded-up guess.

Some of these cases carry a front pocket for a charger and a handle for short walks between desks. Others stay flat because they are meant to ride inside something bigger. The coated shell sheds a drizzle from a car to a doorway, which is a different job from standing in rain.
