We cut this backpack thin for daily train rides, then wrapped a continuous expansion zip around the perimeter. Closed, it measures 1.57 inches deep; opened, it expands out to 5.51 inches. The padded interior sleeve fits a fifteen or sixteen inch screen cleanly without stretching the dark blue outer shell.

How this one is put together

Variable depth gusset

We include a matching 8.28 by 4.72 inch zip pouch for smaller essentials. It keeps power bricks, cords, and thumb drives grouped together so hard edges do not press against your computer inside the main compartment.

Internal laptop padding

The dedicated computer compartment uses thick interior padding paired with a soft plush lining. It cushions a sixteen inch laptop against transit bumps and protects the metal casing from scuffs as you slide the machine in and out.

Dark blue shell

Before you commit

Hold a ruler across your own screen corner to corner before you decide. This one is cut for 15, 16 inches, and a machine with a thick bezel can eat that margin on its own. The expansion zip buys depth, not width, so a wider chassis still will not go in.
